Travel

Advisors and guests are responsible for booking and paying for their own travel, including airfare and airport transfers in their home cities and in Austin.

Travel documents

Canadian citizens are required to have a valid passport to travel to the United States. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date. If requirements are not met it may result in denied boarding by the airline or entry into the United States. Please verify your passport expiration date. Security at airport check-in has become more stringent, and you may be denied boarding if the name on your identification and your airline tickets are not an exact match. If your middle name or initial are on your passport, it must also be on your airline ticket.

Airport check-in

For international flights, airlines generally require you to check in up to two to three hours prior to departure. We strongly suggest checking with your airline to find out the latest policies. You must be at your departure gate within a half-hour of the flight’s departure time or the airline may reassign your seat and deny you boarding. Visit the Transportation Security Administration website for information regarding on-board restrictions.

Baggage identification

Airlines will not accept luggage without a baggage tag. Please ensure you tag your bags before departure. Do not pack your documents, tickets or valuables in your checked baggage. Always carry them with you while travelling.

Luggage fees and allowance

Checked luggage

As each airline has its own fees and policies with regards to the number of bags permitted for checked luggage, we recommend you visit the website of your confirmed airline to find out exact allowances and restrictions prior to packing. Any fees associated with your luggage will be at your own expense.

Carry-on luggage

With the constant changes in allowance for carry-on luggage, we recommend you visit your airline’s website to confirm restrictions prior to packing. Any objects such as tweezers, nail files or pocket knives are not allowed in your carry-on luggage. Liquids or gels must be contained in a plastic bag and must not exceed 10 containers of a maximum of 3.3 fl. oz.
