Is there an audition requirement for this program?
Yes. We require that all students apply for their course of interest by submitting supplemental materials before registration. The materials will be used in the following ways:
- Reviewed for placement into appropriate levels, if needed.
- Shared with the course instructor(s) so they may prepare curriculum that meets the needs and goals of each student.
Students applying for our dance courses must answer a series of questions and submit a short Placement Video.
Placement Videos should be no more than three (3) minutes in length demonstrating the student's ability in the following styles:
- Ballet, either demi-pointe or pointe is acceptable.
- Modern.
- Jazz or Hip-Hop.
Video must show the applicant only. Video of groups/ensembles will not be accepted. Video should be uploaded to a secure, file-sharing website (Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, YouTube, etc.). We highly recommend that you prepare your Placement Video prior to accessing the program application to make the process easier.
Once all materials are received and reviewed, students will receive an email notifying them of their placement along with a link to register for the course.
I have never danced before ⎼ is this program right for me?
No. This Academy is geared for students with dance experience and who are considering pursuing dance in college and/or for their career.
Will students have opportunities to perform during this program?
Yes. In addition to daily technique classes, students will prepare for a culminating showcase for friends and family on the final day.

Artist Support
These last two years have been difficult for all of us in many ways. The arts have been hit particularly hard because so much of the work we do requires physical closeness and interaction. While prioritizing the health and safety of our participants, instructors, and staff, we also need to support our community of artists.
For that reason, we are excited to offer the Summer Academies in the Arts program once again! It provides advanced young artists the tools they will need as they develop their technical and artistic skills in preparation for applications and audition material for college and career pursuits. It also provides much needed employment for our team of instructors ⎼ practicing artists themselves ⎼ who saw many of their commissions, gigs, and contracts cancelled.
