Currency

The currency in the Dominican Republic is the Dominican Peso (DOP), but US dollars are welcome in most places. Please visit www.xe.com for the most current rate.

Electricity

The electricity standard is 110 V/60Hz power system that is compatible with North American devices. The sockets usually require 2 pronge flat plugs. Depending on your country of origin, you may require a converter and/or adapter.

Time Zone

The Dominican Republic is in the Atlantic Standard (GMT) time zone. When it is 12:00pm (noon) in the Dominican Republic it is:
New York (Eastern): 12:00pm
Chicago (Central): 11:00am
Denver (Mountain): 10:00am

Weather

In March, expect temperatures ranging from highs in the low 80s to lows in the low 70s.

Attire

Resort attire is casual during the day. A hat and sunscreen are highly recommended, as the sun is quite strong year-round. Dress code is resort casual for most evening events and cocktail attire is suggested for the Farewell Reception & Dinner. Breakfast and lunch restaurants allow casual attire. Bathing suits must be covered up and no wet clothing or bare feet are allowed. Tank tops, shorts, and flip flops are appropriate. Some dinner restaurants require resort casual attire. Dress shorts and nice sandals for men and skirts, shorts or sundress for women. Beachwear is not allowed.
