Airlines

Masks are required at the airport, while in flight, and in shuttle vehicles.

Airlines are working with authorities from both the CDC and the State Department as they implement and modify rules and regulations for travel.

The latest research shows that aircraft cabins are among the safest of public indoor environments. According to a recent study conducted by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the risk of COVID-19 exposure on board aircrafts is negligible due to advanced air filtration systems, required mask-wearing, and diligent cleaning protocols.

Since airlines began putting these measures in place in spring 2020, “there has been little evidence to date of onboard disease transmission,” according to researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Their report notes that when the “highly effective” ventilation systems are running from boarding until deplaning, the risk of exposure falls below that of activities like grocery shopping and dining out.

And even when the plane is full, on average only 0.003% of infected air particles could enter the breathing zone of seated, masked passengers, according to the DOD study.

While the U.S. government is currently requiring masks on all public transportation, each major carrier has its own travel requirements, and all have documented their processes and disinfecting practices on their websites. For detailed information, we encourage you to check with your specific carrier’s website for the most up to date information.

Las Vegas, Nevada

The State of Nevada is automatically adopting the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance related to mask requirements.

Nevada’s Governor Steve Sisolak signed an emergency directive implementing a mask mandate "consistent with the guidance issued by the CDC, and any subsequent guidance issued by the CDC."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended people wear masks indoors "in areas with substantial and high transmission," regardless of their vaccination status. In Nevada, 12 of 17 counties are currently classified as having either "substantial" or "high" risk of transmission, including Clark County where Las Vegas is located.

You do not need to wear a mask in outdoor settings, but in areas with high numbers of COVID-19 cases, the CDC says consider wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings and for activities with close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated.
