As the federal government rolls out millions in grant funding to support broadband infrastructure, the moment is ripe to solve one of the biggest human rights issues of the past three decades: connecting the under- and unconnected. Personal and family connections are vital, as the pandemic has made clear.

In partnership with local school districts, the Maryvale One Square Mile Initiative at Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions and the University Technology Office at ASU recently embarked on a mission to connect schools and families across Maryvale, located in Phoenix. Join us in exploring the journey of the Maryvale community and how it can be a proofpoint for scaling internet access across Arizona, the region and beyond.

Then, break out into virtual roundtables to help our partner network (ASU, Arizona Commerce Authority, Digital Equity Institute, Sun Corridor Network, Intel and WWT) design its strategy for connecting thousands more households and helping them take advantage of their technology access.

Why Attend?

Our current goal for the Maryvale One Square Mile Initiative is to connect 200 unconnected households in phase 1, with 1,000 connected in phase 2. To do so we must define challenges and strategies for residents and other participants signing up. Your voice is vital. We also need partners (with local trust and connections) who will introduce us to local consumers.
