OVERVIEW

Skeletal dysplasia is a term that describes a group of several hundred conditions that involve generalized abnormalities of bone and cartilage. Some of these skeletal dysplasias involve short stature and disproportionately small limbs compared with the head and torso. Of these skeletal dysplasias, achondroplasia is the most common. In addition, there are a number of medical complications associated with skeletal dysplasias that significantly increase morbidity and mortality in these patients. Treatment of these complications currently involves symptomatic management, surgical intervention, and lifelong follow-up care.  In this virtual live symposium, an expert panel will review the management of skeletal dysplasias, such as achondroplasia, across the disease spectrum, unmet medical needs in this patient population, and emerging treatment options for achondroplasia.
