At last year's NAIFA Iowa conference, Ron hosted a breakout session on Mindfulness and Gratitude where he taught participants how to combine breathing movement, and Gratitude into a practice for centering and focusing the mind. Serendipitously, one of the keynote speakers Lt. Col. Scott Mann was in the audience. During his keynote, he mentioned my session several times. Subsequently, he and Ron have spoken about the similarities between his training as an Army Green Beret and the technique that was demonstrated in Ron’s session.
This year, Ron is reintroducing what was taught last year and expanding on how to apply this approach in working with clients. Research on Gratitude has demonstrated significant improvements in people's health and wellbeing. When applied to wealth preservation and wealth transfer, it has been his experience that gratitude expands people's thinking about who and what matters and why planning and insurance make sense. Ron will demonstrate how this approach can be a genuine way for advisors to substantively distinguish themselves from their more traditional competitors.
Ron Nakamoto helps advisors help their clients optimize what matters most, their True Wealth. His approach combines Mindfulness, Gratitude, and the idea that there is more to wealth than just having money; that people are seeking happiness, fulfillment, meaning and joy. Ron began his career in 1984 as an agent for New England Mutual Life Insurance Company. He earned his CFP, CLU, and ChFC designations in 1987. When New England Life was acquired by MetLife 1996, he went independent, establishing his own insurance, investment and planning firm San Francisco Financial Partners in the San Francisco Bay Area. After retiring from his firm in 2007 and after a brief stint as a real estate developer, in 2011 he became CEO of Empowered Wealth, a training organization based on the book “The Brower Quadrant” and the work of Lee Brower. There, he co-developed the Gratitude Model and True Wealth framework that he will share in this session. In 2019, he started his own teaching, training, and coaching program True Wealth Mentorship.
