OVERVIEW

Bipolar disorder is a serious and chronic psychiatric disorder associated with substantial symptomatology, morbidity, and an increased risk of premature mortality, owing to both, a predominance of bipolar depression, as well as, numerous medical comorbidities. Join us for this live event, to hear 2 clinical experts discuss the diagnosis and treatment of bipolar depression, highlighting the role of psychiatric nursing professionals in these processes. TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is intended for psychiatric advanced practice nurses (APNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), clinical nurse specialists (CNS), and registered nurses (RNs) who are directly involved with diagnosing and managing pediatric patients with bipolar depression.

GOAL STATEMENT

This activity was designed to improve the knowledge and competence of psychiatric advanced practice nurses with respect to the ready recognition and optimal treatment of adults with bipolar depression.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to: 1. Apply established screening tools and diagnostic criteria to readily identify patients with bipolar depression 2. Employ current efficacy, safety, and tolerability data on effective treatments for patients with bipolar depression 3. Utilize effective strategies to improve outcomes in patients with bipolar depression
