Paul Oliver

Paul has over 48 years of experience working in both the private and public sectors maintaining regulatory compliance. Paul has worked with both domestic and international governments initiating and implementing HSE programs for large and small construction projects. Paul’s last position prior to retirement was serving as Senior VP of HSE at Chicago Bridge and Iron Company (CBI). As SrVP, Paul was responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE programs worldwide for a company of 55,000+ employees.  Under Paul’s leadership, CBI had a sustainable Total Recordable Incident Rate of less than 0.30 with a Lost Time Incident Rate of 0.01. Paul led CBI to obtaining the National Safety Council’s Green Cross for Safety award in 2015 and many additional international safety awards in Europe, Australia and Asia.


Paul has presented as an invited speaker in numerous countries on five continents. His presentations focus on safety leadership, building and maintaining a positive safety culture and how to engage decision makers in safety and health program investment. Paul has been working as a safety professional since OSHA started and is considered a walking safety encyclopedia by both those who have worked with and for him. Paul is currently retired from the corporate world; but continues working as an invited speaker and an expert consultant as an owner of TEX.IN. Consulting, Inc.


Paul has two children and a stepson. He has three grandchildren, and his son and daughter-in-law are currently expecting twins. Paul is married to Dr. Shelley Brewer.  Dr. Brewer is also a safety professional and is the current co-chair of the STI Safety Committee. Paul and his wife currently reside in Linton, Indiana among the corn and the deer.
