Cancer Care Research/Clinical Trials

  • Utilize geriatric oncology tools in recruitment
  • Utilize language line and include patients of different English proficiency into clinical trials
  • Use new therapeutic agents as indicated for best outcome
     

Genomics

  • Use standardized criteria identified by genomic experts on gene panel testing
  • Improve timeliness of genomic test results to patient
  • Order appropriate genomic test and improve access to genetic counseling
  • Provide the appropriate educational material for patients on genomic testing
     

Geriatric Oncology

  • Evaluate for potential excessive treatment toxicities in geriatric patient
  • Use a validated tool to objectively assess treatment plan
  • Use shared decision making for treatment planning
  • Assess elderly patients for special needs
     

Kaiser Permanente Regional Geriatric Oncology Program

  • Share and implement best practices from the geriatric oncology program in NCAL
     

Oncology Research including COVID

  • Examine and analyze past performance data to determine areas for improvement for patient care/outcomes
  • Work with colleagues to publish real life experience and healthcare delivery outcomes in scientific journals
     

Digital Transformation in Cancer Care

  • Engage in development and use of the survivorship tools
  • Integrate virtual navigation/self-help into the daily workflow
  • Employ opportunities for member engagement in cancer prevention
     

Multidisciplinary Subspecialty Breakouts

  • Expand expertise level in subspecialty in oncology locally in each med center
  • Plan and Design equitable value-based subspecialty care
  • Identify equity gaps in care and identify personal bias and address • Keep and employ updates on emerging therapies
  • Use strategies for equitable enrollment to clinical trials for all patients

The Kaiser Permanente National CME Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CREDIT STATEMENT

The Kaiser Permanente National CME Program designates this live activity for a maximum of 11.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.™Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses and Physician Assistants – Attendees may report up to 11.25 hours toward continuing education requirements for license renewal. ‘CME’ can be written in lieu of the provider number on all licensure renewal applications.

The course meets the qualifications for 11.25 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTsLCSWsLPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Health Engagement Consulting Services/The Permanente Medical Group is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LCSW's LMFT's.  Kaiser Permanente maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.

It is required that participants complete the entire training in order to receive CEUs.
