The Midland is located on Peter Street in the centre of Manchester and is only a short walk away from Bridgewater Hall, the Palace Theatre and Manchester Central Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The hotel is beside St Peters Square and is just a 10 minutes’ walk to the city's shops and bars.

The hotel is within walking distance of Manchester Oxford Road (200 metres) and Manchester Piccadilly (0.6 miles) and is easily accessible from all corners of the country, Manchester Airport and Local and National rail links making it the perfect base for your visit to Manchester.

Local and National Rail

The nearest train stations to the hotel are Manchester Oxford Road (200 metres) and Manchester Piccadilly (¾ mile). For train times and journey planning please visit nationalrail.co.uk. The main station for nationwide services is Manchester Piccadilly, which is linked to the hotel by the Metrolink Network (on the Eccles, Altrincham, Manchester Airport and East Didsbury lines, alighting at St Peter's Square) and by the Metroshuttle Free Bus Route.

Metrolink Network

The Metrolink network runs across the City Centre and Greater Manchester. The nearest stop to The Midland is St Peter's Square to the side of the hotel, with services including those to and from Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria and Manchester International Airport. Bus Services

Manchester is serviced by a free Metroshuttle bus which links the main train stations, car parks, shopping areas and hotel around the city centre running at least every ten minutes, the nearest stop is outside the Free Trade Hall, 150 metres from the front of the hotel. By Car

From the South From the M6 Junction 19 join the M56. Follow signs for the city centre (A5103). Then follow signs for the Manchester Central Convention Complex/Bridgewater Hall onto Medlock Street. Go through the lights onto Lower Mosley Street. Pass Bridgewater Hall on your right and the rear of the hotel is facing you. From the North From the M6, join the M61 at Preston. Follow signs for M60 south and west towards the Trafford Centre. Then follow signs for the Manchester Central Convention Complex/Bridgewater Hall onto Medlock Street. Go through the lights onto Lower Mosley Street. Pass Bridgewater Hall on your right and the rear of the hotel is facing you. Car Parking

The Midland does not have its own car park; however parking is available at: NCP Manchester Central (0.1 miles).

Covid-19 disclaimer for delegates 


As AELP focuses on a return to face-to-face events following government guidance carefully and limiting the risk of Covid-19 transmission to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all conference delegates is, and will remain, our top priority.

We are proactively following guidelines highlighted in the All Secure Best Practice Guidelines and Standard which include four cornerstones, covering measures that we will apply throughout our Autumn Conference, including pre, during and post event.

The conference venue, The Midland Hotel in Manchester, have introduced a 5-point plan which covers:

  • Hygiene
  • Social Distancing
  • Cashless Operation
  • Food and Beverage delivery
  • Training

Delegates can expect limited contact with hotel staff, clear signage around the venue, automated hand sanitising stations, lower capacity in all meeting rooms, gloves and sanitising wipes to be available, as well as refreshments served by a member of staff rather than buffet style. The hotel staff have undertaken an enhanced training programmes with focus on Covid- 19 spread prevention, hygiene practices and advanced cleanliness standards.

Whilst at the conference, AELP advise all delegates to regularly and thoroughly clean their hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or with soap and water, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth, maintain social distancing and to keep up to date with the latest information on Covid Safety.  For more information and to see the full guidance from the venue, please click here.
