‘Character qualities’ – The missing ingredient to successful apprentices

OVERVIEW

‘Character qualities’ – The missing ingredient to successful apprentices

The lack of Soft Skills in young people has been identified by employers, educators and Government as a key problem in numerous reports and surveys. The new Apprenticeship standards reflected the need by including them as a key component. In addition, 2 of the 4 focuses for OFSTED from last year are personal development and attitudes – yet behaviours are still the poor cousin of technical skills within apprenticeship delivery.

This interactive and engaging webinar introduces Character Qualities as the building blocks, not just of soft skills and behaviours, but of all learnt skills. It will outline the research, pedagogy and impact of delivering character qualities within apprenticeship programmes and show how they can lead to wider success beyond.

Objectives

This webinar will discuss:

  • The link between Character Qualities, Soft Skills and behavioural development within apprenticeship standards
  • How developing and assessing, character qualities is fundamentally different to acquiring hard skills
  • The impact that Character Qualities can have on personal development, attitude and achievement, and the quality of your apprenticeship programme
