Asia Optometric Congress for Education Content


The Global Myopia Symposium (GMS), a world leader in myopia-based education, is pleased to announce a new educational partnership with the Asia Optometric Congress (AOC)—https://asiaoptometriccongress.com. Through this partnership, the two organizations will focus on providing cutting-edge clinical education for eyecare practitioners. In particular, the GMS-AOC Asia track will be inaugurated at the second annual GMS meeting, taking place September 16 to 19, 2021. Dr. Oliver Woo (Australia), chairman of AOC-Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, serves as the education coordinator and will be working with the AOC and GMS to specifically coordinate and plan educational activities between the two organizations. About the Asia Optometric Congress (AOC)

The AOC was officially established in Nov 2017, where its predecessor ASEAN Optometric Conference was founded in 2007.  AOC is a platform for industry partners, vision care practitioners, clinicians, researchers, and academicians to showcase their activities in vision care throughout the entirety of Asia. The current AOC executive council leadership includes Drs. Murphy Chan (president, Malaysia), Charlie Ho (vice president, Philippines), Koh Liang Hwee (Hon. Secretary, Singapore), Dian Leila Sari (Treasurer, Indonesia), with Tan Kah Ooi and David Chong as chairman and member of Advisory Council to the AOC executive council, respectively. The inaugural biennial conference of AOC was held in Manila, Philippines in 2016, followed by its second congress in Bali, Indonesia in 2016. The third congress will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Nov. 15-16, 2022. AOC has successfully organized two e-symposium in the past 12 months: eAOC2020 with the theme ‘Vision2020 – Uniquely Asia’ in Nov 2020, and SOA-AOC e-Symposium 2021 with the theme ‘Orthokeratology and Myopia Management’ in May 2021.
