Service Projects
During this year’s Virginia Volunteerism and Service Conference, we’re encouraging everyone to engage in some service projects of their own!
We put together guides for our two recommended projects: making reusable face masks and creating homelessness care and safety kits. To see our project guides and recommended donation sites, click on the links below:
If neither of these projects speaks to you, feel free to pick a service project of your own.
You can find ideas for other virtual and socially-distanced volunteer projects online at the Points of Light website! The options are nearly endless. You could:
- Write cards for first responders or people who have been isolated during COVID,
- Pick up groceries for high-risk individuals who can’t get to the store,
- Help online archives or data exchanges make their materials more accessible,
- Translate missing persons reports, TED Talks, or Wikipedia articles to other languages,
- Pick up some shifts for a domestic violence or mental health crisis hotline,
- Digitize and proofread books for archiving or accessibility purposes,
- Mentor or tutor kids from across the world, or
- Keep volunteering your time to an organization you already know.
