Murray Fingeret, OD, FAAO
Program Co-Chair

Dr. Murray Fingeret is Chief of the Optometry Section, Brooklyn/St. Albans Campus, Department of Veterans Administration New York Harbor Health Care System. Dr. Fingeret is a Clinical Professor at the State University of New York, College of Optometry and a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Fingeret was inducted into the National Optometry Hall of Fame in 2019 and sits on the Board of Directors of the Glaucoma Foundation. He is a member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Optometric Association, and the National Academies of Practice. Dr. Fingeret is a founding member and past-president of the Optometric Glaucoma Society and currently the president of the Optometric Glaucoma Foundation. He is the recipient of the 2013 Vincent Ellerbrock Clinician Educator Award from the American Academy of Optometry, 2008 Distinguished Service Award Optometric Glaucoma Society, 2005 Carel C. Koch Memorial Medal from the American Academy of Optometry, 1999 AMSUS Federal Service Optometrist of the Year award and 1996 Otsuka Glaucoma Educators Award from the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Fingeret sits on the annual meeting program committee, Glaucoma Section, Association in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the editorial boards for the Journal of Glaucoma, International Glaucoma Review, Glaucoma Today, Primary Care Optometry News, Optometry Times and Review of Optometry and has authored numerous articles and co-authored the texts "Atlas of Primary Eyecare Procedures" and "Primary Care of the Glaucomas".


Robert N. Weinreb, MD
Program Co-Chair

Dr. Weinreb is the Distinguished Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Weinreb is also Director of the Shiley Eye Institute, Director of the Hamilton Glaucoma Center, holder of the Morris Gleich, MD Chair of Glaucoma and is appointed as Distinguished Professor of Bioengineering. Glaucoma patients from throughout the world are referred to Dr. Weinreb for his medical and surgical expertise.

Dr. Weinreb received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He has trained more than 150 post-doctoral Fellows in Glaucoma, including 21 Chairs and many others who hold distinguished academic positions in the United States and throughout the world. Dr. Weinreb is past President of the American Glaucoma Society (AGS), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the Foundation of the American Glaucoma Society, the World Glaucoma Association (WGA), and the Latin American Glaucoma Society. With more than 64,000 citations, his h-impact factor (127 – November, 2020) is among the highest in the world for both glaucoma and ophthalmology.  The recipient of countless awards and prizes, he also is ranked #1 for world glaucoma by Expertscape. In 2019, he chaired the World Glaucoma Consensus on "Glaucoma Surgery" and also was Editor of the report ( Kugler Publications - November 2019).
