April 13-29, 2021

Zoom interviews. Writing during quarantine. A record-setting election. News that a vaccine is coming. Reporting on the changing world in which we now live. Has there ever been such a challenging--but also rewarding--time to be a freelance writer?

ASJA's 2021 Conference will be hosted virtually April 13-29 and will span three tracks:

  • Journalism (April 13-15)
  • Books (April 20-23)
  • Content Marketing (April 27-29)

All sessions will be streamed virtually from 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. ET each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. All sessions will be recorded live and available for free viewing after (for registrants only).

Your conference or track(s) registration includes all of the sessions in the conference or track(s). We’re also offering some special add-ons, like Snack Chats (TBD, for a small fee). The Snack Chats for each track will be held at the same time on the same day (one per track). We’ll announce the Keynote Speakers and list of Snack Chats as soon as we possibly can. You can add these as you register or after.

Tele-Connections, our virtual version of Client Connections, will be May 24-25, 2021. During these speed-dating type sessions, you can meet with editors and agents to pitch your ideas. (Appointments are made via a lottery system.) Registration details, including a list of participating editors and agents, are coming in 2021.

We’re going virtual again, and this means we can bring in panelists with a greater geographic reach than ever before. We may not be able to chat over lunch at Manhattan restaurants or buy tickets to Broadway shows, but we’ll be offering virtual small-group discussions (Snack Chats) along with 30 stellar sessions designed to up your freelancing and writing game.

Conference Testimonials

"Thanks to ASJA relationships, I have accelerated with high-value book ghostwriting. A valued ASJA colleague referred me to a corporate client, resulting in a $75,000 project. And a different ASJA colleague, an agent, helped that client land a publishing deal."

 - Joanne Cleaver

"Thanks for the solutions journalism panel during the 2020 virtual conference, I am writing for a publication that has been on my bucket list but I didn't know how to crack -- Ms Magazine. Thanks ASJA!"

 - Lisa Rabasca Roepe
