ONLINE WORKSHOP

ABOUT THE
WORKSHOP

Over the past 20 years, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)  has become a well-established and industry-accepted method for the installation of new communication cables (telephone, cable, fibre optics) and underground pipelines that transport potable water, sewerage, and natural gas. HDD is an environmentally friendly pipeline construction method alternative to traditional open cut. Research has shown that HDD can reduce open-cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80 percent and will result in pipeline construction projects that are completed faster with significantly less disruption to the public and in environmentally sensitive areas such as wetlands and river crossings. Dr. Knight and his team have developed industry-leading HDD design tools that are used are the globe including Vermeer BOREAID. He has also completed many challenging HDD projects as an engineer and retained as an expert in projects that have resulted in litigation.  Thus, this course will bring together in-depth knowledge of the HDD design process and planning so HDD projects will be completed on time and on budget.

Who should attend?

Engineering consultants, contractors, technologists, municipal employees, field technicians, suppliers, and HDD drillers that specify, design or construct HDD projects. This one course will help you HDD designs that are constructible, in accordance with industry best practices that are completed on time and on budget. If you are new to HDD or have been involved in many HDD you will want to take this course.
