Women’s Health Prime Time: Using Telemedicine to Increase Access to LARC

The COVID-19 pandemic has created new barriers to access of some components of reproductive healthcare, such as the provision of LARC. Fortunately, contraception counseling and follow-up are particularly amenable to a telemedicine application. In this guided discussion, experts will explore ways to reduce barriers to LARC initiation in eligible patients, with a focus on a hybrid approach to telemedicine that includes same-day in-person contraception initiation. Eligibility criteria for LARC placement and strategies to decrease the number of visits required for LARC placement by using telemedicine and adjusting practice workflows will be addressed.

Optimizing Outcomes in Iron Deficiency Anemia: Adaptive Approaches for the Ob/Gyn

Iron deficiency anemia is a far-reaching condition of immense clinical impact in women’s health, with implications ranging from the global, epidemiological scale, to individual OB/GYN practices, and most importantly, to individual patients. As such, this educational initiative is designed to address the myriad challenges of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in women’s health using a dynamic, multifaceted approach targeted to OB/GYNs. Given their role as frontline clinicians with expertise across a multiplicity of women’s health conditions, OB/GYNs are optimally positioned within the healthcare team to ensure the provision of safe, effective, and evidence-based treatment approaches for female patients with IDA. This initiative will provide a review of the epidemiology of IDA, including obstetrical morbidity and mortality implications, as well as equip OB/GYNs with the tools they need to identify patients at high risk for IDA within their practice and properly prevent, diagnose, and treat IDA in those patients.
