 DEADLINE FOR TITLES – November 1, 2020

Message from the 69th WPDC Program Chair

The title of the 69th WPDC meeting is “Infectious diseases impacting modern poultry production and welfare”. The 2020 Western Poultry Disease Conference (WDPC) will focus on infectious diseases currently impacting poultry production systems. Multiple factors such as the reduction in the use of chemotherapeutic agents, the increased utilization of production systems that allow outdoor access and factors inducing the evolution of infectious diseases may have contributed to an increased prevalence of infectious diseases in many poultry producing regions in the United States. This year’s WPDC will focus on infectious disease agents that are economically significant to poultry production. This will include re-emerging pathogens that may have exhibited changes in clinical presentation or pathogenicity in the field. Our speakers and poster presentations will include topics related to currently relevant, significant pathogens such as infectious bronchitis virus, reovirus induced viral arthritis, virulent Newcastle disease virus, and infectious coryza.

Emphasis for presentations will be placed on clinical poultry medicine, avian infectious disease research and diagnostics. For this meeting we are requesting titles and a 150-word summary. Oral and poster presentations will be selected from the submission pool and all selected presentations will be included in the 69th annual WPC Proceedings. The WPDC committee would like to invite all interested presenters including poultry clinicians, diagnosticians, graduate students, poultry residents and veterinary students to submit summaries that may be applicable for this meeting. Additionally, detailed instructions for the complete paper submission will be provided to those whose titles are accepted.

The 2020 WPDC will be held from March 30 to April 1, 2021 in Sacramento California. With great enthusiasm, as Program Chair, I invite you to the 69th WPDC and a look forward to seeing you next year.

Warm Regards,
WPDC Program Chair,
Dr. Simone Stoute
