Over the past 20 years Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) has become a well established and industry accepted method for the installation of new communication cables (telephone, cable, fibre optics) and underground pipelines that transport potable water, sewerage and natural gas. HDD is an environmentally friendly pipeline construction method alternative to traditional open cut. Research has shown that HDD can reduce open cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80 percent and results in pipeline construction projects that are completed faster with less disruption to public and environment especially is environmentally sensitive areas such as wetlands and river crossings.
Engineering consultants, contractors, technologists, municipal employees, field technicians, suppliers, infrastructure asset managers and anyone else who has an interest in municipal pipelines and wants to keep abreast of emerging industry trends to save money and environment.
