Frequently Asked QuestionsSupport

Is there an audition requirement for this program?

No, you do not need to audition to participate in this program. You do, however, need to be an advanced musician who is seriously considering pursuing an education or career in music.

Will students have opportunities to perform during this program?

Aside from performing pieces for the mock auditions, this program does not focus on the performance aspect of music.

I just started playing my instrument  is this program right for me?

While there is no level requirement to participate in this program, we strongly recommend that students who register are those with instrumental performance experience and are considering pursuing music in college and/or for their career.

Artist Support

The last several months have been difficult for all of us in many ways.  The arts have been hit particularly hard because so much of the work we do requires physical closeness and interaction.  While our traditional summer program on the UCI campus has been cancelled this year to prioritize the health and safety of our participants, instructors, and staff, we still need to support our community of artists.

For that reason, we are excited to offer the Summer Academies LITE program.  It provides advanced young artists the tools they will need as they prepare portfolios and audition material for college and career pursuits.  It also provides much needed employment for our team of instructors ⎼ practicing artists themselves ⎼ who have seen their commissions, gigs, and contracts cancelled.

Registration is free because we know many of you have been financially impacted by this crisis.  We are also still paying our instructors and administrative team because many of them have too been financially impacted by this crisis.

If you are able, please consider making a gift of any amount to support the Summer Academies LITE program.  Your contribution will make a significant impact by supporting the artists who make it possible.
