You will be provided with practical information and inspiration to take back to your organisation and use in implementing and improving smoking cessation in your service, ensuring you effectively support people with mental health conditions to stop smoking and within a smoke free environment.

10.00    Chair’s Introduction.
            
10:10    Reclaiming the Stolen Years: the rationale behind aiming for quitting smoking in mental health settings and the challenges in achieving this.

11.00    Two 45 minute workshops on: (Faculty will relocate to audiences):

1    Understanding and prescribing NRT
  • which NRT to prescribe, dosage, what advice to give to patients and all other practical things about it
2   Introduction to vaping in a mental health setting  
  • types of device, concerns, benefits CO monitoring, and other medications.

13:30            Two 30 minute workshops on: 

1    Role of behavioural support 
  • role of behavioural support in smoking cessation
2    CO monitors and other medications
  • other medications to help patients quit smoking

15.00            Strategic and practical tools for enabling quiting. 
  • strategic and practical tools to help patients in their quit journey- from admission to post discharge planning.
