How to Use Data Visualizations and Storytelling in Engaging and Memorable Ways
Thursday, May 21, 2020
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Santa Clara County Office of Education: ERC Classroom 1 & 2
Description
Data is essential to making informed decisions that help students and schools, yet people commonly misunderstand data, are overwhelmed by data, and fail to act on data. Getting people to understand, care, and act on education data involves integrating effective data visualizations with strategic storytelling. This engaging workshop will equip LEA leaders with practical strategies and specific resources to:
create, promote, and obtain data visualizations that render fast and accurate understanding from varied stakeholders, and
pair (or encourage others to pair) any data with a narrative that will help diverse audiences care about the data's implications and move them to act.
Attendees will leave the workshop with specific strategies for sharing data in engaging and memorable ways that will help their schools and students.
