Call for Presentations

This year’s conference will focus on The Power of Internal Audit - Be the energy.

IIA Canada is seeking experienced thought leaders and industry professionals to share their knowledge and expertise as we work together to explore the impacts of a pandemic, the emerging issues and the leading practices.

This exciting opportunity includes CPE credits, complimentary conference registration, and national recognition for your work.

The 2022 IIA Canada National Conference will take place in Calgary at the Telus Convention Center, October 16 - 19, 2022.

This year's conference will be a hybrid event. Speakers will need to commit to both present in-person and pre-record their session.

Applications may be submitted under the following tracks:

IT Audit, Cyber Security and Data Analytics

Post-pandemic is seeing a greater reliance on technology. Will this increase risk? If so, by how much? These sessions will examine the new world including remote audits, remote working, a merging of skillsets between data analysts and internal audits just to mention a few.

Public Sector/MUSH

The pandemic saw rapid change from a public sector perspective. How will this look post-pandemic? What will internal audit’s role be in evolving the many programs rolled out by governments and public institutions to manage the limitations and challenges brought on by the pandemic. These sessions will cover these questions and more.

Leadership & Innovation

Agility, merging of skillsets, vision, communicating and guiding the Board and C-suite --- these are just a handful of the topics on the minds of our leaders. These sessions will address how and what our leaders in internal audit and risk are doing to meet the demands/needs of their clients, stakeholders and team members.

Fraud and Ethics

Post-COVID is presenting organizations with an opportunity to assess, and even reset, their approach to ethics. Ethics touches so much of our decision making post pandemic; for example the decision to require all employees be vaccinated in many workplaces. Meantime, the potential for fraud has increased as new legislation and organization mandates come into effect which are viewed as a requirement to do business in this changed world. These sessions will examine how we go forward as internal auditors, as advisors and assurers in the areas of ethics and fraud.

Soundbite Sessions (hot topics)

What is new, what is hot, what is trending?  These sessions will speak to concepts and ideas outside the box.

NOTE:  The committee will also be looking for diverse perspectives within the speaker submissions in terms of size of audit shops (small, medium, large), industry, along with the ability to present in English.
