Title Senior Head of Regions Company Louis Dreyfus Commodities Bio Gert-Jan van den Akker is Senior Head of Regions for Louis Dreyfus Commodities. He joined our business in June 2014 from Cargill, where he was co-platform leader of the Energy Transportation and Metals Group, responsible for marketing and trading. Having joined as a trainee in 1987, Mr van den Akker held several roles with Cargill, based in Malaysia, Japan, Switzerland and Singapore. Over the years, he acquired extensive expertise across a broad range of activities, from palm oil origination, corn and soybean trading, to bulk transshipment and global freight business management. Mr van den Akker is fluent in Dutch and English, and holds a Master of Law degree from the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
