Dr. Erik Alexander is Chief of the Thyroid Section, Brigham & Women's Hospital. He is Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Education at Harvard Medical School. He is an expert in the field of thyroid nodule and cancer care, with extensive research focused upon the optimal diagnostic approach to nodules and risk factor assessment. He has published over 200 peer reviewed articles, including seminal articles in the NEJM, JAMA, and Lancet Endocrinology. He is a member of the 2015 ATA clinical guidelines committee for the evaluation and management of thyroid nodules and cancer. Most recently, his efforts have focused on limiting intervention and exploring safe approaches to less invasive or non-operative management of disease.
