Tim Platt was appointed to lead the Information Systems Division for Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA) in June of 2009 and named Vice President in January of 2011. TEMA’s scope includes all manufacturing plants, as well as the vehicle design and evaluation facilities, located within the United States, Canada and Mexico.
His responsibilities include management of all aspects of Information Technology, including business application and technology development, business planning, business performance management and architecture, along with daily operations and site management. He is also assigned to head the Information Security Office. Tim is a member of the CIO Executive Council.
Tim began his Toyota career in 1988 at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. facility, Toyota’s first wholly owned North American vehicle production facility in Georgetown, KY. In 1996, Tim began his management assignments with the newly established manufacturing headquarters in Erlanger, KY. From 2004-2007, he served as an executive at Toyota’s European manufacturing, research & development and sales headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, supporting the establishment of IT Management functions for the newly consolidating business units. He returned to North America as a TEMA Information Systems executive in April, 2007.
Tim’s Information Systems experience with Toyota is diverse, including application development for manufacturing floor, supply chain, financials and administrative systems. More recently, the management of research & development applications has been within his scope of responsibility. Additional IT experience includes strategic planning, business performance, enterprise architecture, data management, information security and large program management such as plant startups and the Year 2000 program.
