Title Student Representative Institution / Organization University of Bergen, Norway Bio Eira Vilde Martinsen Garrido is a Norwegian student and activist. She started the University of Bergen in 2015 where she took a bachelor's degree in comparative politics. She is now studying audiovisual communication. Eira is the student representative in the National Committee for Agenda 2030. The mandate of the committee works on developing criteria for the assessment of the quality of SDG relevant research and knowledge; guided by the values and goals of Agenda 2030. This creates unique opportunities for developing quality standards and sharing of best practices for sustainable development. Eira believes that students have an underlying responsibility to take action when their educational and democratic institutions don’t. Students have to show their ability to take responsibility and action towards climate change, inequality and the causes of these crises. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that our future and our children’s future is a safe future, characterized by sustainable living, equality, and peace. The road towards such a future will not realize by a single idea, action or measure, but by a series of ideas, actions, and measures. To better understanding to help influence the community as a whole and the world with innovating sustainable solutions, that will help meet the world's needs in the future. If we wish to be heard, take collective action and develop rational measures we all can follow, then we must cooperate, across institutions, governments, and borders. |
