PHD in International Education, JOCELYNE GACEL-ÁVILA is currently Associate Dean in Social Science and Humanities, tenured Professor in the doctoral programme on higher education, and head of the International Office for 27 years at the University of Guadalajara. Researcher of the National Research System of Mexico; General Coordinator of the UNESCO/IESALC Observatory for the Internationalization and Networks in Tertiary Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, and current President of the Mexican Association for International Education. She has been NAFSA Senior Fellows for Internationalization; Vice-President of the OECD Institute for the Management of Higher Education and Vice-President of the Consortium for Higher Education in North America (CONAHEC); Collaborator of the World Bank, International Association of Universities, and the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education. Awarded the 2010 CONAHEC Award of Distinction for outstanding contribution to the collaboration in North America; and AMPEI 2006 Award winner for outstanding contribution to the internationalization of Mexican higher education.
