Biography: 
Megan Stockhausen is an Assistant Director in the American Federation of Teachers Educational Issues Department in Washington, D.C. Her work involves advising AFT officers and staff, state affiliates and local unions on all aspects of community schools and early childhood education policy. As a part of her work she focuses on federal and state legislative developments as well as the professional learning needs of teachers within community school settings as well as early childhood educators. She has worked with local unions in shaping their advocacy for community schools. She has also worked with early childhood educators in every setting, from family child care homes to and school base pre-k programs. She is passionate about ensuring that educators have the resources and supports they need to provide the best services possible to the children. She has worked with AFT members and staff on the launch of the second of edition of Transitioning to Kindergarten and the mentoring curriculum, Supporting Teachers as Learners. She received her bachelors from McGill University and completed her Juris Doctor at the University of the District of Columbia in 2010. Prior attending law school she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Lesotho.
