Dr. Claudia Jian Xu received the Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from Zhejiang University (China) in 1983, the Master degree in Energy Technology from Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand) in 1988, and the Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering, National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse (France) in 1993. She started her career with Zhejiang Provincial Committee of Science and Technology in 1983 in China. In 1986 she received King's Scholarship for her Master degree in Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. Subsequently she was awarded by the French Government a scholarship for pursuing Ph.D. degree in France in 1988. She joined McKinsey & Company Hong Kong office as Energy Specialist in 1995. She moved to Bechtel Asia Pacific in 1997 as a Strategic Planning Manager and then transferred to the position of Business Development Manager at Bechtel. She joined the Technology Transfer Center at HKUST in 2000 as a Development Manager. Currently she is the Director of the Technology Transfer Center. She also takes the positions as the Vice President of the HKUST R and D Corporation and the General Manager of HKUST R and D Corporation (Guangzhou) Limited. She has solid experience in management consulting, strategic planning, business development, intellectual property management and licensing, technology commercialization, and academic-industrial collaborations.
