ABSTRACT

What have you been reading lately? Come to Planners Book Club to share about your recent reads that influence or expand your understanding of our role in shaping the built environment, and hear from others about their reads.

We’ll start with a poll to create a general understanding of what everyone is reading - topics and titles. Then, we’ll break into discussion groups (sizes to be based on attendance) to share take-aways from what we’ve read and discuss similarities/ differences of material presented and how it has informed the work we do in our jobs.

Whether it’s the latest PAS report; dense non-fiction on history, policy, etc; or a dystopian tale that has you thinking about what our world might be…if it is influencing your approach as a planner, bring it to Book Club!

LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

1. Identify new books to read and expand one’s understanding on topics of planning, shared by others in the discussion group.
2. Analyze theses and arguments of planning books through critical discussion and comparison with other books on related topics.
3. Understand how personal pursuits of reading planning books can translate into action in our work to create great communities for all.
