It is often intuitive to find a mentor or to become a mentor. But what about sponsorship? Studies show that people are often clamoring to be a mentor for women, but women are only half as likely as their male peers to have a sponsor [Werner, 2014]. I’ll talk about what a sponsor is, how you can find one, and how you can cultivate sponsorship in your workplace.
