Operating system (OS) jitter refers to the interference caused by the OS during application execution. We propose Topaz, a hardware-assisted hypervisor based non-invasive technique to capture OS jitter. Topaz provides a comprehensive and fine-grained view of OS jitter sources, ensures accuracy by employing actual clock measurements and provides efficiency by not requiring any changes to OS code.
