Immigration Enforcement, Resistance and Narratives through the lens of Mixed-status Families
Join us on April 9 for Immigration Enforcement, Resistance, and Narratives Through the Lens of Mixed-Status Families, a program presented by ASU’s Civil Rights, Migration, and Workplace Law Initiative, held at the W. P. Carey Foundation Armstrong Great Hall, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with reception to follow.
This event will feature Professor of Law César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández, Clinical Professor of Law Evelyn Cruz, Professor of Law Rose Cuison-Villazor, and Vice Dean Angela Banks, who will engage in a powerful conversation centered on the lived experiences of mixed-status families. Drawing on scholarship, advocacy, and real-world perspectives, the discussion will explore how immigration enforcement shapes family life, resistance, and storytelling in legal and community contexts.
In connection with this program, please also join us on April 8, 2026 at 6 p.m., for a book talk at the Arizona Latino Arts and Cultural Center (ALAC) featuring César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández’s newest work, Welcome to the Wretched.
Together, these events offer a meaningful opportunity to engage deeply with contemporary immigration issues through both legal analysis and narrative.
