Course Description:
Do you have an untold story? Not sure where to start or just need an encouraging environment to take those first or next steps in your creative process? Join Patricia L. Brooks as she shares her experience and guides you toward producing a memoir to your own satisfaction, helps you face your fears, and conquer your story's emotional beasts.
Utilizing techniques developed from writing her three daring memoirs, she will help you understand the daring journey that is writing your journey. Patricia will inspire you to take the necessary steps to bring your work to fruition. This course is designed for those wanting to write their first memoir, those looking to continue their memoir journey, and those who seek help polishing the memoir they have already written. This collaborative class will include activities and participation in a supportive environment. Attendees are asked to always have a notebook and a mind open for new ideas and inspiration with them for class.
About your instructor:
Patricia L. Brooks, MAOM, is president and founder of both the Scottsdale Society of Women Writers and Brooks Goldmann Publishing, LLC. She has successfully developed them over the past 20 years. Patricia has published three memoirs: Gifts of Sisterhood, Three Husbands and a Thousand Boyfriends and Sick as My Secrets. She is currently writing a non-fiction book on writing memoir: Write the Memoir You're Afraid to Write. Patricia has a graduate degree in Organizational Management and is a former instructor at ASU in both writing and marketing. She has an extensive business background and has enjoyed a career in Arizona for over 40 years. She resides in Old Town Scottsdale with her author husband, and business partner, Earl L. Goldmann. Patricia advocates for women's issues and speaks with her books on a regular basis, along with facilitating writing workshops. She enjoys walking, playing tennis, reading and writing, and practicing yoga. www.brooksgoldmannpublishing.com
