IT IS TIME FOR OUR ANNUAL ECONOMIC UPDATE!!!!
Join us for our annual Economic Update Hybrid Event co-hosted with IIA/IMA this May as we celebrate Internal Audit Awareness Month! For this meeting, Scott Darragh theEconomist - Administrator of the Tax Analysis Division within the Office of Revenue and Tax Analysis (ORTA) in the Michigan Department of Treasury providing us with an update on the "Federal Economic Outlook" as well as "The State of Michigan's Economy."
We will also be holding the 2025-2026 IIA Detroit Chapter Board Elections and voting on this during the meeting. We are currently working on finalizing this list and will share a link as soon as it is available so IIA Members have a chance to review it before the meeting.
SPEAKER:
Scott Darragh is the Economist - Administrator of the Tax Analysis Division within the Office of Revenue and Tax Analysis (ORTA) in the Michigan Department of Treasury. Scott has worked in ORTA since 1999. The Tax Analysis Division provides the Governor and State Treasurer with revenue impact estimates on legislation affecting Michigan’s taxes. Scott's time at Treasury has provided a wealth of research experience on Michigan's economy. Scott also spent 8 ½ years as an adjunct lecturer in economics at the University of Michigan - Flint and is now in his second term as a member of the Board of Education of St. Johns Public Schools. As a researcher, instructor, policy maker, and lifelong Michigan resident, the Mitten State has a special spot in Scott's heart. Scott received his B.A. from the University of Michigan - Dearborn, M.A. from Wayne State University, and Ph.D. from Michigan State University.

We will be sure to share a link as soon as this is available so IIA Members have a chance to review it before we vote on it in the meeting.

The IIA Rock Star award recognizes a member who is early within their Auditing career or new to an internal audit role and who demonstrates any the following:
Is an Innovative, Inspiring and Awesome Auditor;
Chapter Champion of their company;
Rallies the people to attend IIA meetings and events;
Understands the IIA Standards and able to apply appropriately;
Utilizes and references IIA standards in their daily work environment;
Your nomination, including a detailed explanation as to why you believe your nominee is the IIA Rock Star of the Month, should be submitted by accessing the nomination form on the Detroit Chapter website at https://www.detroitiia.org/rockstar/.
