The Twenty Third International Congress of Maritime Arbitrators (ICMA XXIII) will take place in Singapore 22-27 March 2026.
Proposals to present papers at ICMA XXIII are accordingly now invited. A list of suggested categories of topics is attached here. However, papers on any subject matter relevant to the practice of maritime law and maritime arbitration, of either a procedural or substantive nature, are welcome.
Papers will be presented in both plenary and parallel sessions, each made up of a panel of speakers.
Speakers will be invited from the international maritime and arbitration community to present, at plenary sessions, papers on subject matters of significant general interest. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else to receive an invitation to write a paper for a plenary session, please contact the Chair of the Steering Committee, Clive Aston, in the first instance at cliveaston@cliveaston.com. Ideas for any alternative format for a plenary presentation are likewise invited
Papers presented in parallel sessions will be those dealing with more specialised subject matter than those presented in the plenary sessions.
Each chosen speaker will be allocated approximately 15 minutes to present the most interesting aspect of his/her paper, intended to generate lively discussion amongst the speakers, panel members and fellow delegates.
Those wishing to present papers are requested to submit a summary of no more than 250 words in the format attached by 18 July 2025 online the template here.
Notification of acceptance of papers will be sent by email, together with information as to required format and layout of the paper to be submitted, by 30 September 2025.
Papers selected for presentation will then be required to be submitted by 31 December 2025.
