Title: Navigating the SEC Cybersecurity Rules Evolution
Program Description: In this presentation, you will learn about the evolution of SEC cybersecurity disclosure rules and how they affect your Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. You will gain insights into how to develop an effective risk management program that aligns with the SEC's expectations and how to communicate with your external auditors. You will also learn about recent disclosures and how companies are working to meet the SEC’s requirements.
Learning Objectives:
Objective 1: Provide a brief history of SEC cybersecurity disclosure rules from 2008 - present.
Objective 2: Demonstrate an effective risk management program and how to communicate with your external auditors.
Objective 3: Provide examples and context around 2024 disclosures filed with the SEC.

Presenters
Faten Alkhattar is a Director in the Risk Advisory practice at Citrin Cooperman. Faten is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and certified in Workiva, demonstrating proficiency in IT governance, compliance, and reporting. Faten’s strong background in IT GRC, IT auditing, and IT risk management enables her to deliver tailored solutions aligned with client objectives and standards. Experience in SOC1 and SOC2 reporting further enhances her ability to provide comprehensive assurance and guidance.
Bill Hatcher is a Managing Director at Citrin Cooperman's with 20 years of experience in Risk Advisory and Internal Audit solutions. Bill is based in the Washington D.C. metropolitan market, where he serves as a Board Member for the Northern Virginia Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Bill is a proud alumnus of Virginia Tech, where he obtained a B.S. degree in Accounting & Information Systems. Bill focuses on helping companies with Risk Advisory solutions including implementation and optimization of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance programs, the delivery of outsourced and co-sourced internal audit, public company transformation, IT governance, and data privacy.
