James Rose, CIA, CRMA, CPA, CISA, CISSP, CHC, is a Managing Director with SunHawk Consulting and an experienced in-house and external consultant on regulatory compliance, governance, risk management, and audit.

James regularly presents to C-Suite and Board panels on compliance, internal audit, and governance assessment results and has served as the Audit and Risk Committee Chair for billion-dollar-plus organizations. James is a long-time member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, currently serving on the International Standards Board and contributing to the new Global Internal Audit Standards. He also serves on the HCCA and SCCE auditing and monitoring workshop faculty.

James was formerly the Chief Audit Executive at Humana, with additional responsibility for enterprise risk management, critical FWA investigations, Humana’s enterprise GRC platform implementation, financial control audits, and compliance audits. He regularly presented to the Audit Committee, Board members, Executive Team, and Operating Committee on compliance, audit, and risk management matters. Before Humana, he was Director of Performance Audits for the Commonwealth of Kentucky as well as served as a Foreign Service Officer in the Office of Inspector General for U.S. Agency for International Development.

James also has experience working with not-for-profit and governmental organizations. James served previously as the co-founding chair of the Data Analysis Committee of the Healthcare Fraud Prevention Partnership of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Justice.  Within the public schools, he has served on an elementary school site-based decision-making council and currently serves as the chair of the Jefferson County Public School Audit and Risk Management Committee. He also served as interim CEO and CFO of a local 100-year-old human services agency that provides micro-entrepreneur counseling, career counseling, family and behavioral counseling, and food pantry operations. Globally, James served previously as chair and member of the Audit Committee of the United Nations World Food Programme.  Currently, he serves as an expert advisor to the United Nations World Health Organization’s Employee Health Pension Oversight Committee.
