In 2023, ASTM International hosted an informal workshop focused on addressing the current challenges and needs within the biotechnology and biotechnology manufacturing sectors. The event gathered industry experts, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss existing technology gaps, barriers to innovation, and the priority areas for standards development. This workshop is a pivotal step in advancing the field and ensuring that future developments are well-supported by robust and relevant standards. View the workshop brief here.

Following the initial stakeholder meeting, ASTM International, in partnership with AAMI, is planning a broader stakeholder workshop to further advance the discussions and ideas with the goal of:

Identify Gaps: Collect diverse insights to uncover more technology and innovation gaps.
Set Priorities: Establish a comprehensive list of priorities for standards development.
Enhance Collaboration: Foster collaboration among industry leaders, researchers, standards developers, and policymakers.

We invite all interested parties to participate in this upcoming workshop. Your expertise and input are crucial to shaping the future of biotechnology and biotechnology manufacturing standards. A full agenda will be published soon.
