This Hill briefing will focus on the importance of active transportation initiatives in fostering inclusive and sustainable mobility within Black communities. The session will focus specifically on the active transportation grants available through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which offer crucial funding for projects that enhance pedestrian and cycling pathways, improve access to public transit, and integrate the overall transportation network. These grants aim to address critical mobility gaps, promote equitable access to transportation, and build safer, healthier communities. The briefing will highlight successful projects, address existing obstacles, and identify opportunities for collaboration and innovation in active transportation by offering a space for stakeholders to share insights and experiences and form partnerships, paving the way for strategic approaches to tackle existing challenges and seize new opportunities.
