The purpose of the conference is to highlight and discuss the latest knowledge of MR imaging during child development and in early detection of neurodevelopmental disorders.
The most promising techniques and approaches that may be implemented within the next 5-10 years in routine diagnosis in relation to neurodevelopmental disorders in infancy, childhood, and adolescence will be presented and discussed.
Content
The symposium will present the current knowledge and understanding of brain development, including the possibilities of imaging the immature brain before and just after birth. What are the challenges and what are the possibilities in detecting brain lesions using magnetic resonance imaging? What do we know now and what do we need to know in order to develop imaging techniques that can help us to detect brain lesions as early as possible?
The programme will include the following:
How to image the developing brain? Hardware, software and behavioral approaches
Imaging animal models of brain development and earlyinjury: How can MR imaging of animal models guide our future approaches?
Predicting outcome by early MR imaging: Is MRI a part of the toolbox for personalized medicine in early brain damage?
Longitudinal imaging of human brain development: Why do we need longitudinal imaging studies and what can we gain from them?
Designing the paediatric MRI scanner of the future: What is the vision of the industry?
