Description | This 2-part seminar examines the path to failure, as disclosed in an independent investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, and the relationship between the missteps and the professional ethics of each party and professionals involved. In addition to the ethical issues, the wise use of computer-aided design tools is also discussed.
Objectives
Identify the apparent ethical issues arising during the design and building of the FIU pedestrian bridge, leading to its failure.
Identify the various times in the design/build process that the design flaws could have been identified and corrected, preventing the failure.
Relate the project experience to the use of computer-aided design tools (CAD)
