A whole child, whole-community approach to learning.
Community schools leverage the resources of the whole community – students, families, educators, and community partners – to build relationship-centered, supportive, and equitable school communities where learning is culturally-rooted, inclusive, rigorous, and relevant.
The Santa Clara County Office of Education and the National Center for Community Schools are hosting the Community Schools Fundamentals Transformational Learning Community (TLC). This is a virtual learning and networking opportunity designed specifically for district and school teams – especially those that have received planning grants or are interested in applying for the $4,000,000,000 in state and/or federal community school funding in California.
These sessions are designed to help you and your teams:
Become familiar with Community Schools and identify elements for sustainable success
Build capacity across the stages of development in a Community School
Identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities
Conduct community asset mapping
Develop referral pathways and processes
Engage youth, families, and community partners
Build capacity for wellness centers, multi-tiered system of supports, and social-emotional learning
Develop a thorough implementation plan
Prepare to apply for the implementation grant
