As an admitted student to ASU Law you are eligible to apply to our new Advance Scholars Program. The Advance Scholars Program seeks to foster an inclusive community at ASU Law, particularly for first-generation students, students of color, and students who have overcome adversity. The Advance Scholars Program hopes to bring together a cohort of students with diverse backgrounds who can offer different perspectives—racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, socioeconomic, and geographic diversity.
The program provides participants with the following:
Three-day, pre-orientation workshop focused on law school success strategies, networking, and leadership skills
Attorney mentor
2L or 3L student mentor
Travel reimbursement up to $500 and meals provided during the pre-orientation workshop
Books for your first-year courses
Regular events that provide leadership skills training and additional networking opportunities
An immersive experience at either ASU’s Washington, D.C. or Los Angeles campuses after the first year of law school
Admitted JD students interested in this program should refer to their admission materials for the deadline to apply. An essay of no more than 500 words that addresses both of the following questions, will also be required:
How will your life experiences help ASU Law build an inclusive cohort for the Advance Scholars Program, or how have you overcome adversity to get where you are today?
How will the Advance Scholars Program help you realize your career goals?
