Advocacy Initiatives, Collaborations, and Opportunities for Involvement
The presenters discuss the benefits of collaboration with like-minded groups that share a passion for improving the lives of those affected by SCI. A new tip sheet developed by ASIA's Health Policy and Advocacy Committee will be introduced to help SCI specialists advocate for longer lengths of stay in inpatient rehabilitation.
Recent research findings regarding barriers patients face to accessing optimal SCI care will also be discussed. Additionally, there will be a discussion regarding the work of United Spinal and the North American Spinal Cord Injury Consortium, highlighting opportunities for involvement of ASIA's members.
At the end of this webinar, you will be able to:
Describe at least three objective criteria beyond mobility and ADLs to help justify ongoing LOS on acute rehab for persons with SCI.
Explain how to get involved with United Spinal on advocacy issues.
Describe partnership opportunities with the community living with SCI that help enhance research and clinical practice.
