The Australasian HIV&AIDS Conference (26th Annual Conference of the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine) is the premier HIV Conference in Australia and the Asia and Pacific region. The annual conference is run by ASHM as a platform for the dissemination and presentation of new and innovative research findings across the Australasian HIV sector.




ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN!

The 2016 Australasian HIV & AIDS Conference Committees are excited to announce that the abstract submission site is now open!

Your abstract must be addressed to one of the following themes:
  • Theme A: Understanding and identifying HIV and related infections: Basic Science, Biology and Pathogenesis
  • Theme B: Managing HIV and related infections: Clinical management and the lived experience of HIV 
  • Theme C: Preventing HIV and related infections: Epidemiology and Prevention in Australia and the Region
  • Theme D: Policy, Politics and Cultural issues of HIV and related infections in Australia and internationally
Make sure you check the abstract guidelines thoroughly before submitting your abstract.

They have been working hard to develop an engaging and educational program that showcases new research and developments taking place in the sector. They have secured some of the top researchers and influencers in the field ensuring this year's conference is certainly not one to be missed.

SPEAKER HIGHLIGHT - DR. JARED BAETEN


Jared Baeten, MD, PhD
Dr. Baeten is Vice Chair and Professor in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington. His research focuses on the prevention of HIV-1 and other sexually transmitted diseases, including clinical trials of novel prevention interventions, epidemiologic studies of risk factors for HIV-1 transmission, and biobehavioral and implementation science research aimed at optimizing prevention delivery. He led the Partners PrEP Study and MTN-020/ASPIRE, randomized clinical trials the proved the efficacy of tenofovir-based pills and the dapivirine vaginal ring as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) against HIV-1 acquisition. Other work includes implementation science projects to deliver antiretroviral treatment and PrEP for HIV-1 prevention and studies exploring use of hormonal contraception as a risk factor for HIV-1
