Registration and Call for Abstracts now open!
Elder abuse affects at least 5% of Australians – that’s more than 175,000 people. By bringing together the community, frontline workers, researchers and academics, those with lived experience, policy-makers and politicians, media and other professionals at the 5th National Elder Abuse Conference, we will make a change.Proudly hosted by the Senior Rights Service, the Conference is being planned in close consultation with a National Planning Committee.
The Conference will be held in Sydney on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 February 2018, with a special community satellite event taking place on the afternoon of Sunday 18 February.
A diverse range of stakeholders from various community and professional backgrounds who have contact with older people, will come together at the Conference to exchange ideas and knowledge so that we can make social change when addressing the issue of elder abuse within our communities.
Call for Abstracts Now Open!
You are invited to submit an abstract for consideration in the Conference program. We are planning a program that will be interactive, dynamic and stimulating. In particular, we are looking for innovative projects, emerging research data and personal stories from those working in the front line or those directly impacted by elder abuse.
The Conference will have four concurrent themes - Legal, Health, Social and Policy - that will explore the complexities of elder abuse. The social and cultural changes necessary to prevent elder abuse will happen with long-term, multi-faceted, culture-wide approaches.
The closing date for submission of abstracts is 1 September 2017, so please visit the Conference website by clicking here to read more about the submissions process.
We also encourage you to reach out to people who you believe will make a valuable contribution to the Conference program and ask them to consider submitting an abstract before the closing date too.
