Overview

On 12 August, the government confirmed that the apprenticeship levy will start in April 2017 and it published the latest set of documents and guidance to facilitate the levy’s introduction in respect of levy payers and non-levy payers. These were originally promised for June and AELP lobbied ministers to say that any further delay would endanger a successful start and the achievement of a manifesto commitment of 3 million apprenticeships in this Parliament. Training providers, who deliver 76% of apprenticeships in England, play a key role in explaining to employers how the reforms will impact on businesses of all sizes, supporting their strategic planning for future apprenticeship provision and assisting in the training and assessment of apprentices. This webinar will take AELP Members though the latest proposals and will explain their implications for employers, providers and apprentices.

The new proposals will be open for a consultation. They cover:

  • Funding of apprenticeships, including funding bands and incentives
  • New register for apprenticeship training providers
  • Enabling employers to become training providers
Objectives
This webinar will:
  • provide AELP Members with information and supportive interpretation to help plan future provision with their employers and prospective employers
  • highlight areas where AELP may wish to comment in the forthcoming consultation.

Providers will:
  • understand how the funding measures will impact on apprentices in different age groups and different sectors
  • know how the reforms will work for levy paying employers and non-levy payers
  • know what is expected from them to become a registered provider
  • what the proposals mean in terms of moving from frameworks to standards.
